Dreams...

The last few months have been super busy for the band. We have had so much go on inside our camp, I'm not sure where we are at! I guess that's not a bad thing, seeing how everybody involved is great at what they do. I did however, want to catch people up on what is going on in the Chad Johnson Band world!

We have had some new shows pop up and playing in some new venues we have not been before! That is always cool, but also scary since it is new. We have released our 2nd single "Love in my Heart" to radio, and it is already moving in the charts. However, we need everyones help calling radio and requesting it!!! If you don't request it, they wont play it....and that sucks. We have been busy writing new material as well, and so far so good. We have a new tune that Mark and I put together, and this song could be huge for us! Keep your eye out for this tune as it will e making an appearance in our live show!!

This last weekend we played at Maggie Maes in Austin for the Texas v Texas Tech after party. We had a blast and want to thank everyone who came out and got loud! I was battling a case of strep throat, so I do apologize if I sucked... The thing about playing a show when you're sick is it makes you realize how much I love playing music. In 10 years of playing, we have only canceled a hand full of shows. I have a hard time letting people down and last Saturday was no exception. It was a big show and there was a lot of people from out of town. I just sucked it up and played the show! It was really difficult and hurt, but was so fun that I didn't care. Thanks again Peeps!

Keep checking in with our Facebook, Twitter, and website for all thing going  on with the band!!

4th of July and "Not Guilty?"

Yo peeps! So Friday, we started the day early with a visit to Good Day Austin on Fox 7. It went great and we got a lot of pics and video (When they post the interview we will let you know). After  the orning show I had to run to the DMV...and I hate the DMV!!!! Our next gig that day was at The Austin airport and I needed a current Drivers License to get in, since my license was expired. After waiting in line for 2 hours, I was good to go! The airport was kind of a cool deal besides the having to go through security with all or gig part. The cool part of the gig was that every CD we sold was going to places other than Texas! Spreading the word people!!

We had the rest of the weekend off, so saturday we headed out to Lake Belton for some fun in the sun! Bobby made some bad ass burgers and hot dogs for dinner that night! We then headed into Florence to see our buddy William Clark Green and his band! I wanted to get there early to see my new "girl singer crush", Bri Bagwell...unfortunately, we missed her set. We got really drunk, I got to get on stage a sing a tune, and got to ride Jays bike through the parking lot...Thanks for a good time Will! Also, my good buddy Josh Abbott and his wife were in attendance and it is always great to see them! The night ended by getting in my parents pool and playing movie trivia till 5am...ouch!

Sunday, we had more friends and family out to celebrate the 4th of July! We had fajitas and mas booze! It's always good to hang with your family when you can in this business. We spend a lot of time on the road and playing Holidays, so it's nice to have sometime off every once and a while.

The 4th of july, I found myself sleeping in as late as possible! When I woke up, my dad and I ran to Home Depot and got some materials for our new deer stand. last year we built a UT themed stand, so this year we are making a Dallas Cowboy themed stand. We didn't get finished, so I will have to post pics later. My mom sat around watching this stupid trial all weekend, which I found myself checking out from time to time. I can't believe she got not guilty to every charge. They trow pot smokers in jail everyday, but I guess murder is nos bad...it's a shame.

Later peeps

Radio Tour

I first want to thank every radio station we visited for letting us play and talk on air. It was a great experience and I hope that I will get the chance to more radio visits in the future. The first week, we visited all 5 stations in Corpus Christi in one day (it was a crazy day). We also traveled over 2000 miles in 4 days, played at a great venue in San Marcus called The Texas Music Theater, and opened for Wade Bowen at the House Pasture. Needless to say, I was beat! Thankfully, I had Bobby (fiddle) and Easton (manager) to make the trip memorable!

The second week, we went from Austin to Abilene, New Mexico to Amarillo, and every small town in between! The week was full of more adventure. Stayed in one of the nastiest motels I have ever stayed in (and I have stayed in some dumps) and also one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. Got drunk several times and got to meet some great radio personalities in the business. We ended that week with a great show at The Blue Light in Lubbock and one of our favorite parties Sherwood Stock in Mertzon, TX!

There was a lot of hard work put into this single and so far it is doing better than we could have hoped. The support from fans and industry peeps has been amazing...so THANK YOU!!

PS: Now that I have a little bit of time, I will get back to blogging more!

The big 30

What a great weekend! We started off Friday night playing at Filthy McNasty's in Ft Worth. It is always nice to have a bar owner who gets what we go through and what we provide to his bar. He always takes care of us and for that, we say Thank You Don!When we hit the stage we had a great crowd, which always makes for a great show. Had a lot of good friends show up for day one of Birthday bash weekend and the shots were flowing. We also got ICED on stage by our friend (or should I say EX friend) Justin. Hard as shit to chug ice cold Smirnoff Ice. Ended the night with a little trip to Waffle House and a few laughs.

Day 2 we headed to Tayt's Dads house for his birthday party aka: Possum Holler Bash! We have been playing this party now for 6 or 7 years and always have a blast! We had a bit of trouble trying to figure out what the weather was going to do and after moving our equipment for the 3rd time we started jamming. Once again the shots were flowing.... I never remember to many details of Possum Holler parties. After we got done playing our good friend and musical hero of mine, Bret Graham hit the stage. He was entertaining as always! The band had a front row spot in the pool and we stayed there all night! Already excited about next year!

Woke up this morning...well...EXTREMELY Hungover! As the the guys slept in the van on the way home, I got to thinking about the Last 10 years of this band. I have had the best time traveling Texas and playing new places. I have seen so many cool things in my travels that most people never get to see. Most importantly, I get to do it with 4 of my best friends. We have our issues every once in awhile like everyone else, but at the end of the day we are still brothers. The band is doing better than ever these days, and we are getting super excited to put ourselves out there in Texas scene even more! Its time for our day in the sun and we have worked long and hard for the chance. With all the support we have had from friends, family, management, and most importantly FANS, we hope to take over this scene!

Thanks to everybody who gives a damn about us and always keeping up with what we are doing! Keep spreading the word, because we couldn't do it with out ya!

see ya down the road

P.S. I turn 30 tomorrow and will be having drinks at Weirdo's in North Austin around 8pm! Everybody is welcome to join me!

Three days on the road...

We left Austin Thursday afternoon to Longview to start our Acoustic run. We played at the Levee with a great new band Cory Johnson and Shy Blakeman. We played for 45min and the 10 people there really seemed to enjoy our tunes. It's nice to hear clapping when you finish a song. Meet some cool people when we got done and got our drink on for a bit before heading to Frisco.

Our show Friday was canceled, so we sat around and watched Orange County Choppers. The best part of the day was eating at Taco Bueno... I love Taco Bueno. After food, we got a bottle of whiskey and a case of Bud Light. This is the part where I don't remember many details. I do know when we woke up the next day, the whiskey was gone and there was only a few beers left. I haven't felt that bad in a long time, but there was no time to sit around and nurse our pounding heads. So, off to Ft. Worth we went!

We played a bar near the TCU campus called The Moon. with a band called the Troubadours and Rob Baird!

Once again we didn't have a lot of people, but they were really responsive to our tunes. Our hangovers were in full force, but we pulled through. We didn't make a penny for that show and we were out of money, so we jumped in the van, licked our wounds, and headed home to Austin.

Finished off this weekend with multiple naps, my Dog Emma coming home from doggy daycare, Mothers day dinner at Hoovers, and reruns of Ax Men. Hope everybody had a great weekend and day with their Moms. Till I blog again...See ya down the road!

The weekend off!

I say we have the weekend off, but that doesn't mean that I get to lay around the house all weekend. Friday night we are headed down to San Antonio to see the CD Release of our friend Wes Harllee. He played acoustic on our last record and made it sound amazing. His lead guitar player Flöhmeyer also graced our record and took it to the top! Can't wait to hear their songs live at Sams Burger Joint. I know they have been working long and hard to make the record perfect and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. I also get to see some friends that I haven't seen in a long time!

Saturday, we are headed out to Georgetown to my parents house. We will be drinking heavily and hanging out around the pool! POOL PARTY!!!! Not home much on the weekends anymore, so get really excited when we get the chance to go out there and party. Doing burgers and hot dogs, beer, cannonballs, jammin tunes, shots, shots, shots, and passing out in the yard. Emma (my dog) is also very excited about the pool party and will be spending most of her time in the pool....or sleeping.

Hope everybody has a great and safe weekend! All my peeps out at Larry Joe Taylor music fest...I am very jealous...drink one for me!

See ya down the road

Music Recommendation: Mindy Smith- One Moment More

Such a great record and great to listen to when I am very hungover. She has a very soothing voice and great melodies. Very chill record.

Live Music Recommendation: Besides Wes Harllee at Sams Burger Joint...Go check out fellow AUE artists Zack Walther Band @ Gruene Hall with our buddies Rosehill opening the show.

The start of my blog....

Well, here we go! I have never done a blog, but I guess there is a first time for everything. The band and myself have been super busy lately trying to get all our ducks in a row, and those damn things are hard to catch. We have new booking/management/pr/marketing keeping us very busy these days. I always say, "if I'm not busy, then I'm not having fun". It's great not always getting as much sleep as you want and driving 5 hrs to play for 1 hr to a group of people that are trying to have a conversation! That may sound awful to you, but to me it's my job.

We will be having some new contests and giveaways coming up in the next few weeks, so stay tuned to our new site for that: www.chadjohnsonband.com We are also starting a new video series that should be really fun and enjoyable for everyone. Our new radio single "Why" is out so please call your local radio and request it! Lets see... I think that about does it for me. Thanks for reading and keep checking back for more updates. Also, follow us on Facebook and Twitter and keep spreading the word!

See ya down the road!
